Academician Gong Qiaoyu attended the summit of the 2024 Asia-Europe Cooperation and Development Conference and delivered an important speech.

　　2024年11月9日，北京中国大饭店国际会议厅内，一场聚焦亚欧合作与文化经贸交流的国际盛会——2024亚欧合作发展大会峰会暨中俄文化年系列文化经贸交流活动隆重举行。此次活动吸引了来自中俄及亚欧多国的高级别政要、商界领袖、文化名人及专家学者等数百名嘉宾齐聚一堂，共同探讨合作发展的新机遇与挑战。联合国国际生态生命科学院院士及中国院名誉院长、联合国规划署世界和谐基金会共同主席龚巧玉女士也应邀出席，并在会上发表了重要致辞。

　　On November 9, 2024, in the International Conference Hall of China World Hotel in Beijing, an international grand event focusing on Asia-Europe cooperation and cultural and economic exchanges-2024 Asia-Europe Cooperation and Development Conference Summit and Sino-Russian Cultural Year series of cultural and economic exchange activities were held grandly. The event attracted hundreds of high-level politicians, business leaders, cultural celebrities, experts and scholars from China, Russia and many countries in Asia and Europe to gather together to discuss new opportunities and challenges for cooperation and development. Ms Gong Qiaoyu, academician of the United Nations International Academy of Ecological Life Sciences, honorary president of China Institute and co-chairman of the United Nations Programme World Harmony Foundation, was also invited to attend and delivered an important speech at the meeting.

　　The conference will be held simultaneously in Beijing and Moscow. Inside the Beijing venue, there were many guests and a lively atmosphere. The event kicked off in a solemn and enthusiastic atmosphere, and the organizers first expressed a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to all the guests who came from afar. Subsequently, important leaders from China, Russia, and friendly countries in Asia and Europe successively took the stage to speak, jointly reviewing the cooperation achievements in the fields of economy, trade, culture, etc. in the Asia Europe region in recent years, and expressing their beautiful expectations for the future development prospects.

　　龚巧玉院士在致辞中首先向大会主办方表示了诚挚的感谢，并向远道而来的各位嘉宾表达了热烈的欢迎与问候。她指出，当前全球正面临气候变化、公共卫生危机等多重挑战，这些挑战以前所未有的方式重塑着人类文明关系，促使国际社会更加紧迫地推动构建人类命运共同体。在此背景下，中国提出的全球文明倡议、全球发展倡议和全球安全倡议，为全球治理体系的完善和变革注入了新的活力，为全球合作发展指明了方向。

　　In his speech, Academician Gong Qiaoyu first expressed sincere thanks to the organizers of the conference and extended warm welcome and greetings to the distinguished guests from afar. She pointed out that the world is currently facing multiple challenges such as climate change and public health crisis. These challenges have reshaped the relationship between human civilizations in an unprecedented way, prompting the international community to promote the building of a community of human destiny more urgently. In this context, China's global civilization initiative, global development initiative and global security initiative have injected new vitality into the improvement and reform of the global governance system and pointed out the direction for global cooperation and development.

　　作为联合国国际生态生命科学院的领军人物，龚巧玉院士特别强调了生态环境对于人类生存与发展的重要性。她指出，随着工业化、城市化的加速推进，生态环境正面临前所未有的压力和挑战，欧亚地区作为世界上最具活力和潜力的地区之一，在生态环境保护方面肩负着重要的责任和使命。近年来，欧亚各国政府和社会各界已经采取了一系列积极有效的措施，加强生态环境保护，推动绿色发展，这些努力对推动欧亚地区乃至全球的生态保护和可持续发展具有重要意义。

　　As the leader of the United Nations International Academy of Ecological Life Sciences, Academician Gong Qiaoyu particularly emphasized the importance of ecological environment for human survival and development. She pointed out that with the acceleration of industrialization and urbanization, the ecological environment is facing unprecedented pressure and challenges. As one of the most dynamic and potential regions in the world, Europe and Asia shoulder important responsibilities and missions in ecological environment protection. In recent years, governments and all walks of life in Europe and Asia have taken a series of positive and effective measures to strengthen ecological environmental protection and promote green development. These efforts are of great significance to promoting ecological protection and sustainable development in Europe and Asia and even the world.

　　In his speech, Academician Gong Qiaoyu shared some profound insights and specific suggestions on ecological life safety. She called on all countries to strengthen international cooperation, jointly meet global challenges, and promote the process of global ecological protection and restoration by strengthening cooperation and exchanges in the field of ecological protection and sharing experiences and technologies. At the same time, she stressed the important role of scientific research and technological innovation in enhancing ecological protection and restoration capacity, and called on countries to increase investment in research and development in related fields and promote the research and development and application of new technologies.

　　As the co-chair of the World Harmony Foundation of the United Nations Environment Programme, Academician Gong Qiaoyu also actively advocates the concept of harmonious symbiosis. She believes that mutual learning among civilizations is an important driving force for the progress of human society. She called on the two Asian and European civilizations to learn from each other with an open mind and jointly promote the prosperity and development of human civilization. At the same time, as the main promoter of the World peace tower series projects, she stressed that peace and development are complementary, and called on all countries to strengthen cooperation in the field of peace and security and jointly safeguard regional and world peace and stability.
