　　2024年11月2日，北京市“国际院士之家”迎来了一个历史性的时刻——世界和平塔重启规划筹备会的圆满召开。此次会议标志着世界和平塔项目在历经波折后正式重启，迎来了全新的发展机遇。

　　On November 2, 2024, the "International Academy House" in Beijing welcomed a historic moment - the successful convening of the preparatory meeting for the restart of the World Peace Tower. This conference marks the official restart of the World Peace Tower project after experiencing setbacks, ushering in a new development opportunity.

　　在著名华侨陈香梅女士的推动下，2015年新疆喀什地区麦盖提县成功奠基并部分落成了世界和平公园。陈香梅作为飞虎队将军陈纳德的遗孀，不仅见证了飞虎队的英勇，更将和平理想化为行动。自2016年起，和平墙上镌刻了来自全球46个国家和地区的国家元首及领导人的题词，凝聚了对和平的共同愿景。然而，受陈香梅女士离世及全球疫情影响，世界和平塔项目一度停滞。但和平信念未灭，随着疫情形势缓解，重启该项目不仅缅怀陈香梅的和平理想，也是向全人类和平愿景发出的时代呼唤。

　　Under the promotion of the famous overseas Chinese Ms. Chen Xiangmei, in 2015, Maigaiti County in Kashgar, Xinjiang successfully laid the foundation and partially completed the World Peace Park. As the widow of General Chenault of the Flying Tigers, Chen Xiangmei not only witnessed the bravery of the Flying Tigers, but also turned the ideal of peace into action. Since 2016, the Peace Wall has been engraved with inscriptions from heads of state and leaders from 46 countries and regions around the world, embodying a shared vision for peace. However, due to the passing of Ms. Chen Xiangmei and the impact of the global pandemic, the World Peace Tower project was temporarily stalled. But the belief in peace has not been extinguished. With the easing of the epidemic situation, restarting the project not only commemorates Chen Xiangmei's ideal of peace, but also calls for the era's vision of peace for all mankind.

　　在陈香梅女士子女的诚挚邀请及全球46个国家为和平墙题字元首的共同期待下，联合国环境规划署世界和谐基金会接手项目，旨在续写和平篇章，推动全球和平事业迈向新高度。这一行动不仅是对历史的尊重，更是对未来和平的坚定承诺。

　　At the sincere invitation of Ms. Chen Xiangmei's children and the common expectation of heads of state from 46 countries around the world to inscribe words on the Peace Wall, the United Nations Environment Programme's World Harmony Foundation has taken over the project, aiming to continue writing the chapter of peace and promote global peace to new heights. This action is not only a respect for history, but also a firm commitment to future peace.

　　尤为值得一提的是，联合国环境规划署世界和谐基金会共同主席、联合国国际生态安全科学院院士及中国院名誉院长龚巧玉女士，在推动世界和平塔项目重启中发挥了至关重要的作用。在短短一个月内，龚巧玉院士两次亲赴麦盖提县进行实地考察，为项目的重启奠定了坚实基础。第一次考察是在“天山南北院士行”活动中，龚巧玉院士深入了解了新疆地区的教育科研与环保工作，特别是麦盖提的沙漠治理与森林防护情况，并对世界和平公园进行了实地探访。第二次考察则是由中国产业海外发展协会牵头，多方参与，共同为世界和平塔项目的重启规划出谋划策。龚巧玉院士的两次考察，不仅加深了对当地情况的了解，更为项目的重启提供了有力支持。

　　It is particularly worth mentioning that Ms. Gong Qiaoyu, co-chair of the World Harmony Foundation of the United Nations Environment Programme, academician of the United Nations International Academy of Ecological Security and honorary president of China Institute, has played a vital role in promoting the restart of the World peace tower Project. In a short period of one month, Academician Gong Qiaoyu personally visited Makati County twice, which laid a solid foundation for the restart of the project. The first visit was in the "Tianshan North-South Academician Tour". Academician Gong Qiaoyu got an in-depth understanding of the education, scientific research and environmental protection work in Xinjiang, especially the desert control and forest protection in Makati, and made a field visit to the World Peace Park. The second visit was led by China Industrial Overseas Development Association, and many parties participated in it to make suggestions for the restart planning of the peace tower project in the world. Academician Gong Qiaoyu's two visits not only deepened his understanding of the local situation, but also provided strong support for the restart of the project.

　　在11月2日的筹备会上，龚巧玉院士以其深厚的学识和坚定的决心，向世界展示了和平塔项目的广阔前景。她详细介绍了项目的由来、规划与展望，并提出了国际合作项目与麦盖提县发展的具体建议。龚巧玉院士分享了联合国绕地球计划等国际合作项目的情况，这些项目旨在通过全球合作解决环境、发展等重大问题。她指出，这些国际合作项目与世界和平塔项目有着天然的契合点，可以通过和平塔的建设，搭建一个国际合作与交流的平台，促进各国在环境保护、可持续发展等领域的深入合作。

　　At the preparatory meeting on November 2nd, Academician Gong Qiaoyu showcased the vast prospects of the Peace Tower project to the world with her profound knowledge and firm determination. She provided a detailed introduction to the origin, planning, and prospects of the project, and put forward specific suggestions for international cooperation projects and the development of Maigaiti County. Academician Gong Qiaoyu shared the situation of international cooperation projects such as the United Nations' circumnavigation of the Earth program, which aim to solve major issues such as the environment and development through global cooperation. She pointed out that these international cooperation projects have a natural fit with the World Peace Tower project, and through the construction of the Peace Tower, a platform for international cooperation and exchange can be built to promote in-depth cooperation among countries in areas such as environmental protection and sustainable development.

　　龚巧玉院士还强调了麦盖提县作为世界和平塔项目所在地的独特优势。她认为，麦盖提县应充分利用其地理位置和资源禀赋，借助国际力量提升知名度和影响力。她提出了如何借助世界和平塔项目的国际影响力，吸引更多国际力量，推动麦盖提县的经济发展和社会进步。

　　Academician Gong Qiaoyu also emphasized the unique advantages of Maigaiti County as the location of the World Peace Tower project. She believes that Maigaiti County should fully utilize its geographical location and resource endowment, and leverage international forces to enhance its visibility and influence. She proposed how to leverage the international influence of the World Peace Tower project, attract more international forces, and promote the economic development and social progress of Maigaiti County.

　　会上，来自联合国、世界和谐基金会、陈香梅基金会、中国产业海外发展协会、欧美同学会、农业科学院、中华慈善总会、中国健康云汇堂、中国红十字会、全球水联盟、中国驻美国大使馆、中国县域经济网、光明日报的代表，以及多位院士和专家纷纷发言。他们从不同角度对世界和平塔重启规划筹备工作提出了宝贵的看法、建议和期望。大家一致认为，和平塔的建设不仅具有重大的现实意义，更承载着深远的历史意义。它将成为人类和平与合作的象征，激励着人们不断前行。

　　At the meeting, representatives from the United Nations, World Harmony Foundation, Chen Xiangmei Foundation, China Overseas Industry Development Association, European and American Alumni Association, Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Charity Federation, China Health Cloud Hall, Chinese Red Cross Society, Global Water Alliance, Chinese Embassy in the United States, China County Economic Network, Guangming Daily, as well as many academicians and experts, spoke one after another. They have put forward valuable opinions, suggestions, and expectations on the preparation work for the restart of the World Peace Tower from different perspectives. Everyone agrees that the construction of the Peace Tower not only has significant practical significance, but also carries profound historical significance.
